{"id":1397,"date":"2009-09-03T21:32:32","date_gmt":"2009-09-04T01:32:32","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/blog.local\/?p=1397"},"modified":"2009-09-03T21:32:32","modified_gmt":"2009-09-04T01:32:32","slug":"i-will-never-forget","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/blog.local\/i-will-never-forget\/","title":{"rendered":"I will never forget"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>First year of uni walking along (one way north in dunedin) with my high school friend Mathew.<\/p>\n<p>A McDonalds type cup of coke landed near our feet, we heard beeping and look up to see two hooligans from school yelling abuse.<\/p>\n<p>At that point in time I couldn&#8217;t understand how someone could be so angry at someone else (from whom I barely interacted). \u00a0They&#8217;d displayed the same behaviour at school. \u00a0I was never rude to them, or talked to them, in fact my first encounter was to verbal abuse.<\/p>\n<p>You see what I grew to realise it was driven by fear. \u00a0Fear of the unknown. \u00a0Fear of some kid not willing to compromise his integrity &amp; give up like the others.<\/p>\n<p>This and many other incidents drove me. \u00a0When I was down, I realised that to give up was to let them win, let the fear win.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>First year of uni walking along (one way north in dunedin) with my high school friend Mathew.
