{"id":2963,"date":"2010-02-24T17:14:33","date_gmt":"2010-02-24T21:14:33","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/blog.local\/?p=2963"},"modified":"2010-02-24T17:14:33","modified_gmt":"2010-02-24T21:14:33","slug":"how-i-stopped-losing-pens","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/blog.local\/how-i-stopped-losing-pens\/","title":{"rendered":"How I stopped losing Pens"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><a href=\"http:\/\/blog.local\/wp-content\/uploads\/2010\/02\/blue-bic-pen.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-medium wp-image-2966 alignleft\" title=\"blue-bic-pen\" src=\"http:\/\/blog.local\/wp-content\/uploads\/2010\/02\/blue-bic-pen-225x300.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"113\" height=\"150\" \/><\/a>How often do you find yourself without a pen and having to then ask to borrow one?<\/p>\n<p>You think you have a pen on you but you really don&#8217;t, or you&#8217;ve absentmindedly left it at your last meeting.<\/p>\n<p>This used to bug me, however it doesn&#8217;t anymore, and hasn&#8217;t for the last 5 years.<\/p>\n<p>So what did I do?<\/p>\n<p>Simple I created two rules.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Rule #1: <\/strong>I am only allowed to write with a Blue Bic Pen.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Rule#2: <\/strong>I am only allowed one pen per quarter. \u00a0When it runs out of ink, I break it in half, throw it out (so I don&#8217;t pick up a pen that doesn&#8217;t work).<\/p>\n<p>I picked up a box of blue bic pens (and do so every couple of years now). \u00a0In 5 years I&#8217;ve lost my pen twice (first time as I was quite sick and second time travelling).<\/p>\n<p>Once you put the constraint that you only have one pen, if you loan a pen you expect it back, also if you pick up another kind of pen you realise immediately (hey this isn&#8217;t my pen) so put it down.<\/p>\n<p>Also you actually keep a track of your one pen (ideally keeping on you most of the time).<\/p>\n<p>That&#8217;s how I stopped losing Pens. \u00a0Slightly irrelevant but a nice little life hack.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>How often do you find yourself without a pen and having to then ask to borrow one?
