People like numbers

December 17th, 2008

1,000,000 books sold

$25k/month

500 tonnes.

Numbers help provide a context and allows us to compare / contrast things.

Remember that and leverage it.

John Chow built his business off the back of showing people how to earn money off his blog.

Even once banned by google, he only grew, as people discussed the numbers.

Did you see how much John earned last month? its his highest month ever.

Share your numbers, especially the curious ones, with your customers.  It may be worth talking about.

Create an opportunity for conversation

October 9th, 2008

Through polarising people.

You are either at this extreme or that extreme.

Create a void space for others to rush in and converse.

I don’t want to be at that end or that end, i want to be here.

What can you do to create that void? how can you give people a voice to talk? How can you ignite their own passion?

Silence

September 29th, 2008

is scary huh?

People pause.  They don’t know what to do.

There is a void.

You instantly think you need to fill it.

What if you didn’t? What if you bought 30seconds of ad time during peak times and had nothing.  Absolutely nothing.

People would be in the kitchen during the ad break going “who turned the tv off?”, others would look up to see what was going on, they might even tune in.

Silence is polarising, we are so used to noise, we have no idea how to react.
