I could not read properly until I was nearly nine. (more than three decades ago for those who want to know)Despite all efforts, I appeared to be unteachable. Remedial reading did not work. Fob English had won.Then my brother told me about "The Hobbit" and "The Lord of The Rings". I grabbed his (already) very old copy and proceeded to read it. At nine, and with the "inability" to read.I finished it within four weeks, often staying up to 4am to read (slowly).A tutor, a consultant, a mentor can be a catalyst. But it is up to the individual to take action and make a change.The individual can decide to do what they have always done, or go "there is more". No one else can make this happen.Just my two cents.
