McGregors Pies
March 25th, 2009As a young boyย McGregors Pies were famous (locally) for their mutton pies.
They were disgustingly unhealthy, you had to bite the side of it to drain out the fat, yuck.
But boy were they yummy.
Health aside, they still sold well, people would still stop in for a McGregors pie – even if it wasn’t the mutton pie.
You see that talking point was enough for them to stand out.

Hey bwagy. I heard on NewstalkZB on Monday night that a kiwi is trying to buy the rights back from McDonalds (they bought them and promptly closed all the shops; the band is dormant) but McD’s won’t talk to him.
I hope he’s successful in bringing it back, even though I have no expeirence with the franchise. Sounds like an institution!

That would be Georgie Pie, they were like the fast food chain of pies. I was a bit young to experience them though! McGregors Pies are still alive and kicking.
